Kamal Haasan has been a major force in Indian cinema for more than 50 years. Known as an actor, director, singer and writer, he is admired for his bold film choices and creative ideas.
Recently he surprised fans by openly talking about retirement during the Manorama Hortus Literary and Art Festival.
When the host asked whether senior actors should retire to make space for younger talent, Kamal replied calmly and humorously. He said it’s natural for new people to come in, but fans usually don’t tell senior artists to step aside.
Laughing, he added that he himself considered taking a break whenever he made bad films, but his friends encouraged him to end his journey with a good film instead.
Even though he delivered a massive hit with Vikram some of his later films did not perform well. Kamal said he still hopes to make one truly good film before taking a break, leaving fans emotional yet hopeful.
